What is included with the E-flite RC Airplane Commander MPD 1.4m BNF Basic model?

The E-flite RC Airplane Commander MPD 1.4m BNF Basic package includes the airframe and installed electronic components, such as the servos and motor, that allow you to fly right out of the box. However, it does not come with a transmitter, battery, or charger. This setup enables experienced pilots who already own compatible gear to customize their flying experience, choosing the battery and transmitter that best meet their needs.

How does the AS3X technology enhance flying performance?

AS3X technology helps stabilize the E-flite RC Airplane Commander while in flight, making it easier for pilots to handle tricky maneuvers. It compensates for external factors like wind and varying air currents, providing a smoother flying experience. This is particularly beneficial for beginner pilots who may struggle with stability, enabling them to focus on learning basic flight skills without worrying about losing control.

What are the benefits of Safe Select features in this RC airplane?

Safe Select technology provides additional layers of flight assistance that help prevent common pilot errors. Features like self-leveling and variable flight envelope allow you to fly confidently, especially during challenging maneuvers. This is perfect for new pilots who appreciate extra support while honing their skills, as well as experienced flyers looking for a reliable assistant in the air.

What type of battery is recommended for the E-flite RC Airplane Commander?

For optimal performance, the E-flite RC Airplane Commander is typically used with a 3S LiPo battery, often with a capacity around 2200-3200mAh. This battery choice offers a good balance between flight time and weight, ensuring the airplane has ample power for agile maneuvers and stable flight. Choosing a battery that fits these specifications allows for robust and enjoyable flight experiences.

Can I use my existing transmitter with this RC airplane?

Yes, the E-flite RC Airplane Commander is designed as a Bind-N-Fly (BNF) model, so you can bind it with a compatible transmitter that uses DSMX/DSM2 protocols. This allows you to utilize your existing transmitter, ensuring you have the controls and customization options you prefer for your flying experience. Make sure your transmitter is appropriately set up to maximize the model's features.

What are some recommended flying environments for this RC airplane?

The E-flite RC Airplane Commander is best suited for flying in open spaces, such as parks or large fields, where you have ample room to maneuver. Ideally, you should select locations away from people, pets, and obstacles that could pose a risk during flight. Calm weather conditions are recommended to fully enjoy its capabilities, especially for beginner pilots gaining confidence.

What are the dimensions of the E-flite RC Airplane Commander?

The E-flite RC Airplane Commander has a wingspan of 1.4 meters, which offers stability while providing a fun flying experience. Its relatively larger size makes it visible in various environments, aiding in orientation and flight control. This size is conducive for both beginners and more experienced pilots, allowing for smooth, controlled flight.

Is assembly required for the E-flite RC Airplane Commander?

Yes, some minimal assembly is required for the E-flite RC Airplane Commander due to its BNF classification. While the major components are pre-installed, you will need to attach the wings, tail surfaces, and a few other parts according to the provided manual. This assembly process not only familiarizes you with the components but also gives you the satisfaction of preparing your own aircraft for the skies.

E-flite Airplanes & Jets Editorial Review

The E-flite RC Airplane Commander MPD 1.4m BNF Basic Transmitter Battery and Charger Not Included with AS3X and Safe Select is a high-quality model that is not recommended for beginners. It is well-built and designed for 3D flying, but the landing gear is a bit weak for rough fields. The plane has excellent slow speed performance and is very responsive, thanks in part to its metal geared servos. It is easy to set up and comes well-packed, but some users have noted that the blue paint may rub off on their hands. Overall, this is a great choice for experienced aero modelers who want a fast, maneuverable, and stylish RC airplane.
