The WoodRiver Wheel Marking Gauge is made in China and the marks are both metric and standard. The marking wheel is fixed and should not be used on metal as it may quickly dull. It can be used for marking mortises but has a single cutter which means that the user will have to mark one side, reset it, then mark the other side. The build quality and machining are superb, however, the wood knob part was not sanded or finished. The knife was not sharp and the markings are hard to see. The cutter wheel retracts flush with the fence allowing for easy setting to the exact thickness of a workpiece. The tool is heavier than it looks and has an appealing heft. It is well made, with excellent quality and looks attractive, but it is not worth its $68 cost.
